Culture and recreation
The city centre with a great variation of shops, restaurants, cosy café’s and terraces is only 5 minutes away on foot. Discover also the Drents Museum. Again and again they manage to surprise us with their remarkable exhibitions. In theatre and cinema ‘De Nieuwe Kolk’ you can watch films or shows every evening. And just a 20-minute drive will take you straight into the lively student city Groningen.
In the surroundings of Assen you can take a dive into the Drentse traditions and history with a visit to the Prisoners Museum Veenhuizen, Museum Village Orvelte or Hunebed Centre Borger. Hooghalen with the former camp Westerbork and the Memorial Centre is at biking distance and definitely worth a visit.
Nature
For the ones who love the peace and quiet, Logement №5 will be very enjoyable. From your guesthouse you can walk straight into the 100 hectares very old Asser-forest.
Around Assen you will find beautiful parks such as ‘the Stroomdal from the Drentse Aa’. There are endless possibilities to bike or hike. It starts when you walk out of our door.
Sports
Assen is famous for her yearly-organised TT. Not just the races, also the music festival that lasts for several days. Besides that, there are many other attractive motorcycle activities on the TT-circuit.
Swimming of ice-skating in the winter is possible in ‘The Bonte Wever’. The 27 holes of the Drentsche Golf & Countryclub in Assen are a challenge for experienced and beginner golfers.
